Overview
Blood of Yamin is an action-RPG metroidvania set in a world on the cusp of an industrial revolution powered by the blood of a dead god. Players explore a side-scrolling world packed with outlaws and monsters, unlocking new abilities to reach dangerous areas.
My role & the team
Worked within a small indie team alongside other programmers as the game prepared for its Kickstarter release.
What I built
- Programmed gameplay systems on top of the Corgi Engine.
- Implemented quest-system functionality supporting exploration and progression.
The technical challenge
A metroidvania depends on tightly interlocking traversal, combat and ability-gating — systems have to compose cleanly so new abilities can unlock new areas without breaking earlier content.
My engineering approach
I built gameplay and quest logic on the Corgi Engine foundation so abilities, exploration and progression could be extended as the world grew.
