Snek Tournament

Shipped a multiplayer arcade snake game with online tournaments, leaderboards and a server-backed economy.

Overview

Snek Tournament is a modern take on the classic snake game: grow bigger by eating, buy abilities from a store, and outsmart opponents in online tournaments or offline matches against AI. It features an online leaderboard, five special abilities and a trophy-based economy.

My role & the team

Delivered gameplay and server-side systems for the release.

What I built

  • Built smooth, performant snake controls tuned for a wide range of mobile devices.
  • Implemented online multiplayer tournament mode with Photon.
  • Integrated Azure PlayFab for server-side leaderboards and the trophy economy.
  • Developed five special abilities and a store for buying them.
  • Created challenging offline AI opponents for no-connection play.

The technical challenge

A real-time multiplayer arcade game has to feel smooth on low-end phones while keeping leaderboards and the in-game economy authoritative on the server.

My engineering approach

I tuned the controls and rendering for consistent performance across devices, ran matches through Photon, and used Azure PlayFab as the server-side authority for leaderboards and trophies.

Result

A published, cross-mode arcade game on Google Play with online tournaments and offline AI.
